Research and Application of a New Modular Insulated OPGW Splicing Device in Improving the Quality and Efficiency of Transmission Line Operation and Maintenance

When the transmission line OPGW cable is set up to the tower, the OPGW of different disks must be connected by the optical fiber splicer to form an end-to-end communication optical cable. In this paper, a new modular insulated OPGW splitter is developed based on the typical faults of the existing insulated splitter box and photoelectric separation technology. Through the miniaturization design of the fiber connection box, using the lower end 45 degree connection, the design of the fiber storage disk, etc., the advantages of modular miniaturization and reliable sealing are realized. The insulation resistance measurement, power frequency wet voltage resistance test and lightning strike test of the device meet the requirements of OPGW optical cable engineering conditions. At the same time, the device also has the conditions of installing an intelligent monitoring system, which can monitor the status of the connection box itself and the fault of the optical fiber in real time, and carry out early diagnosis and warning of the fault of the OPGW cable and the connection box, effectively improving the quality and efficiency of the operation and maintenance of the transmission line.
