Overflow Prevention and Wastewater Harmony: Innovative Strategies for Urban Drain Management

Overflow and blockages are problems that urban drainage systems must overcome to be managed effectively. This paper offers a novel solution using an intelligent sewage system to address these problems. The system efficiently prevents overflow incidents and mitigates blockages by integrating real-time monitoring of water levels and flow rates. When our strategically positioned sensors within the drainage network detect water levels above 75%, a suction pump is activated. This pump ensures maximum storage capacity and prevents overflow by moving water to a reservoir until the levels drop to 45%, as tracked by our sensors. The system also monitors water flow rates concurrently. When flow is constant, operations continue, and when it decreases, a blockage warning is issued. In addition to promoting sustainability and resilience in urban wastewater infrastructure, this proactive approach improves urban drain management by anticipating and addressing possible overflow and blockage scenarios. In addition to improving environmental protection and urban livability, the proposed system is a major advancement in reducing the risks related to urban drainage.
