Study of K-string Hydraulic Manifold for Optimal Control and Efficiency on Fluid Powered Vehicle

In a world where the pursuit of sustainability and environmental consciousness has taken center stage, the search for cleaner and more efficient means of transportation has never been more critical. This study uses principles of fluid power, its historical context, applications for vehicles, potential for environmental sustainability, integration with renewable energy sources, and practical applications in daily transportation. Through this holistic examination, we aim to shed light on how fluid power can steer us toward a cleaner, more sustainable future on the roads ahead with the design of a vehicle that is fully powered by hydraulic fluid. To comprehend the complexity of fluid power-driven vehicles, we use hydraulic manifold for reduced weight and size but with consequent compromised pressure drop in the system. To counteract it a Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis is carried out to predict pressure losses. For alleviating uncalculated pressure drops and to bypass the need for additional components the K-string factors in to optimize control and efficiency. The modified control systems and feedback mechanisms ensure that the system operates safely and efficiently, with the pressure relief valve and accumulator providing safeguards and performance enhancements as needed. The hydraulic fluid circulates, and the cycle continues to provide the necessary power for vehicle movement. The entire assembly is then mounted on a bicycle and tested for optimal performance. The experimental setup uses a bike prototype with bidirectional motor, pump, and hosing to withstand a 3000-psi pressure, with a pre-charged accumulator. The vehicle is then tested for improvement in regenerative power, endurance, and efficiency and results are recorded for evaluation.
