Feasibility of Same Frequency Band Active-passive Detection for Diver Detection Sonar

From the perspective of increasing target information acquisition and reducing diver detection sonar false alarms, this paper has explored the diver detection sonar's capability to acquire high-frequency radiation noise from small targets and the feasibility of same-band activepassive processing. The current status and main characteristics of diver detection sonar, as well as the active echo and radiation noise characteristics of slow small targets such as divers and unmanned underwater vehicles, are analyzed. Diver, unmanned underwater vehicle, and vessel active-passive detection experiments have been conducted. The results indicate that noise monitoring and active detection of small targets in the same frequency band can be achieved in the high-frequency range. Furthermore, the differences in noise generated by vessels, unmanned underwater vehicles, and divers in the high-frequency range can be further utilized to enhance the detection and identification capabilities of underwater threat targets, thereby reducing false alarm rates.
