Indirect Matrix Converter Current Prediction under Unbalanced Input

To address the problem of a large number of low order harmonics in the source current for indirect matrix converter(IMC) under unbalanced input voltages, the calculation of reference source current based on the technology of positive and negative sequence separation, suppression of active power and zero average reactive power is proposed, the source current is introduced as the direct control target of the input side. Compared to the conventional model prediction control based on the grid side reactive power control, the direct control of source current is achieved, what'smore, the quality of the source current waveforms are improved without sacrificing the output characteristics. In comparison with the conventional modulation based on the closed loop control method, the complexity of the system is reduced without the design of multiple regulators. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
