Primary Frequency Control Strategy for Wind Turbine Generators Considering Fatigue Loads

To address the issue of increased fatigue loads during primary frequency control in wind turbine generators, a model predictive control strategy considering fatigue loads is proposed based on the mechanical dynamic response characteristics of turbines and the operational features of control devices under different wind speeds. Firstly, a state-space model for the wind turbine generator is established, transforming the frequency control fatigue loads into a multi-constraint, multi-objective optimization equation. Secondly, leveraging the dynamic response characteristics of the turbine, a frequency control method based on model predictive control and a coordinated control strategy for fatigue loads in wind turbine generators are introduced. This involves optimizing the active power output of the turbine and the frequency control mechanical actions to reduce dynamic frequency deviations and fatigue loads on the wind turbine generator. Finally, a comparative analysis is conducted on the frequency response capability and fatigue loads of the turbine under different control strategies. The results indicate that the proposed control strategy effectively enhances the frequency response capability of the wind farm and reduces the fatigue loads on the turbine compared to traditional control strategies, thereby extending the lifespan of the turbines.
