Design of a High-Voltage EMI Filter Using Virtual Reality

This work explores the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) technology into the design process of high-voltage Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) filters. The motivation lies in addressing the cumbersome and time-consuming nature of using 3D solvers for filter design. The research implements a VR environment allowing engineers to interact with a 3D model of an EMI filter, enabling dynamic manipulation of its geometry and electrical characteristics. By utilizing an emulation approach based on Kriging for the 3D solver and incorporating hand-tracking in VR, this work accelerates and streamlines the modeling process, offering an intuitive experience. The work demonstrates the significant potential of VR and Machine Learning in enhancing electrical component simulations. The successful incorporation of VR technology presents a pathway towards more intuitive and interactive EMI filter design. Empowering lab technicians and users alike, the presented approach simplifies filter design, allowing for intuitive experimentation akin to a hands-on lab environment.
