Analysis of Cable Factors on Shielding Effectiveness Measurements with GTEM Cell

In this work, we focus on the shielding effectiveness (SE) of cables using a Gigahertz Transverse Electromagnetic (GTEM) cell which is an alternative measurement setup for radiation and emission measurements. Even if the GTEM cell imparts unique properties such as compactness, the need for less power to create fields, and no need for antennas, SE measurements of cables with it can lead to deviations and unrepeatable results. Thus, this paper focuses on the reasons by following a methodology that combines a statistical analysis of the measured SE while varying cable type, cable position, and cable terminations. This way we ensure the repeatability of our measurements and show the effects of these variants on the SE results.
