Variations in Portable Measurements of Radio-Frequency Electromagnetic Fields

This study explored the variability in portable measurements of radio frequency electromagnetic fields, highlighting their importance in risk communication and understanding individual exposure. Measurements were conducted by two volunteers using the same type of devices, protocols, and routes within 1 km² area that was measured previously. While there were moderate correlations between the volunteers’ results, factors such as device characteristics, device uncertainty, and the human body’s impact could affect the results. Despite this, approximately 8 -80th percentile of the measurements, except for FM/TV, were within $\pm 5 \mathrm{~dB}$. The 10-90 percentile of data (except for FM/TV) distributes from -2.19 4.36 dB to $5.75 \sim 7.00 \mathrm{~dB}$. These results indicate a certain level of reliability in comparing results from the same type of device.
