Hybrid Portable Power Station Enhanced with IoT Monitoring

After the devastation caused by recent storms and hurricanes events that impacted Puerto Rico, the population strongly adopted alternatives of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) due to the persistent power outages. The design and construction of the portable energy station with various sources including solar, wind and mechanical energy using a spinning bike was presented by authors in [1]. This paper shows the design and implementation of an PCB-Based Internet of Things (IoT) system to monitor the performance of the proposed power station. Experimental tests to establish the maximum limits of power generation and load power consumption during an emergency are detailed. The collected data can be accessed through the BLYNK IoT online platform.
