A PVT-Robust 2.4-GHz-BW 59.7-dB-Range 0.39-dB-Error dB-Linear VGA with Self-Compensated Exponential Generator and Self-Adaptive Bias

This paper presents a wideband digital-controlled variable gain amplifier (VGA) with robust decibel-linear (dB-linear) characteristic. Fabricated in 40 nm standard CMOS process, the proposed VGA achieves a constant 3dB-bandwidth of 2.4 GHz under $1.2-\mathrm{V}$ supply voltage with 6.26 mW DC power. A 59.7dB gain range, 0.62 dB gain step and 0.39 dB dB -linear error is realized. Based on the proposed self-compensated exponential generator and self-adaptive bias technology, the gain drift of the VGA is limited in 5.12 dB and gain slope drift is limited in $4.13 \%$ under PVT corners.
