Neurofuzzy Based MPPT for a Hybrid Powered BLDC Motor in Water Pumping Applications

This paper presents the ANFIS based MPPT technique applied to a solar-PV and battery driven brushless DC motor for water pumping application. The sepic converter is considered in the solar photovoltaic arrays (SPVs) that allows soft starting of the motor. The battery is charged by SPV array when the water delivery is not required whereas the charged battery provides power under bad weather conditions and during the night. A bidirectional buck-boost DC-DC converter is utilised that allows the battery to automatically switch between the different modes of operation. The speed of the BLDC motor is controlled by a pulse width modulated control of the voltage source inverter utilizing a DC link voltage controller. The performance analysis of the proposed ANFIS controlled system is carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK and the results are compared with the conventional P&O technique. It is observed that the voltage gets stabilized more quickly with a maximum power of 4.7kW as compared to the conventional technique.
