Designing a FTTH Living Lab Facilities as Experience, Training, Assessment and Testing Center

Good training facilities for Fiber to the Home (FTTH) are important factors in developing competence and skilled workers to cater evolving demand for FTTH infrastructure in the telecommunications industry in Malaysia. This paper presents our experience in developing FTTH living lab facilities, which are end-to-end integrated technical skills development centers that replicate actual fiber optic infrastructure in a lab environment. This FTTH living lab was used to conduct practical training on FTTH network cable installation, splicing, testing, and the configuration of triple play services. We present our experience in designing a multipurpose and cost-effective training facilities that we used as experience, training, assessment and testing center.
