Simple MATLAB-Based App for Markov-Switching Land Mobile Satellite Channel

This paper revisits land mobile satellite (LMS) modeling utilizing a two-state Markov chain. Detailed MATLAB code for the modeling computation is provided and explained. The LMS model in each state adheres to the Loo's distribution, with Loo's parameters extracted from the ITU-R P.681-11 report. Furthermore, the Markov-switching computation is encapsulated as a graphical user interface using MATLAB's ‘appdesigner’ feature. Leveraging both calculated and measured data from previous literature, empirical models for the steady state and transition probabilities of the Markov chain are developed.
