Thermodynamic Calculation of the Working Process of the Gas-Dynamically Decoupled Compressor and Turbine

The article describes a thermodynamic calculation of the working process of a gas-dynamically decoupled compressor and turbine. Samara University is designing microturbine for the needs of distributed energy, so the task was set to develop a model to determine the readiness of the infrastructure and the required equipment capacity for full-scale testing. The model of designed microturbine was used to create the model of the working process of a gas-dynamically decoupled compressor and turbine. The absence of a gas-dynamic connection between the compressor and the turbine makes it possible to obtain experimental map of the small-scaled compressors in a wide range of operating modes. To drive the compressor, compressed air is supplied to the section in front of the turbine. At the same time, since the working fluid has an ambient temperature, the task is to determine the parameters of the air at the outlet of the turbine, the low temperature values of which in some operating modes can lead to icing of the test bench elements and affect the quality of the experiment. The main result of the work was the determination of compressor map points that can be experimentally obtained. Thermodynamic parameters of the working process at these points provide to design of a spiral air collector behind the compressor, design of the air supply to the turbine using a receiver or volute, designing the air exhaust from the turbine, determining the operating conditions of the bench elements, for example, butterfly valves, for their correct selection.
