Construction of a 3D model of an University Campus for Easing New Visitor Navigation around the Campus using Blender and Three.js

This paper aims to illustrate the design and development of a 3D virtual environment for the engineering campus of the university, employing the Blender software and then rendering it on web with the help of the Three.js JavaScript library. The 3D model has been conceptualized from the survey of the university campus, the blueprint of the campus buildings, the miniaturization of the buildings to scale, the 3D modeling, and the development of an avatar for navigating the virtual campus locations. This environment will serve as an immersive platform for incoming local and international students and staff, allowing them to gain a clear understanding of the campus by exploring pathways to various buildings, canteen locations, and parking facilities. Additionally, the platform can have multiple users accessing it from the comfort of their homes. This work contributes to the literature on the potential of 3D modeling tools and JavaScript libraries in creating engaging virtual environments for commercial purposes.
