Effective Onboard Converter for Electric Vehicles using Reconfigured DC-Side Network

This study proposes an electric-drive-reconstructed onboard converter (EDROC) for the DC side switching network. The technology in electric automobiles may be utilized by the system, negating the need for additional hardware There is no extra hardware (relay or filter) on the AC side when the EDROC is plugged into an outlet at home or at work to connect to the electricity grid. In terms of cost and volume, the novel EDROC that has been suggested performs better than the traditional EDROC. When driving, the EDROC may discharge to power the motor; but, when charging, it may achieve a power factor of unity. To verify the suggested EDROC's driving and charging capabilities, A prototype has been built to demonstrate the concept. The converter is meticulously crafted to address the unique challenges faced in the EV domain, including efficiency optimization, power management, and compatibility with diverse charging infrastructure standards. Leveraging cutting-edge control strategies, the converter facilitates seamless bidirectional power flow between the traction battery and the electric drive system, enabling efficient charging and discharging operations. Moreover, the converter incorporates advanced functionalities such as power factor correction and harmonic mitigation to ensure grid-friendly behavior during charging sessions. Experimental validation conducted under various operating conditions underscores the converter's effectiveness in enhancing energy efficiency, reducing charging durations, and ensuring robust performance across diverse scenarios. This research contribution signifies a significant step forward in advancing EV technology, offering a versatile and efficient onboard converter solution poised for widespread integration into next-generation electric vehicles.
