V-F Control of a Thermal-Wind System Using BSA Optimized Cascade FOPI-TID Controller

This article address the study of an unified two-area thermal-wind system with a combined voltage and frequency control. An original attempt was made to integrate the cascade FOPI-TID controller in both AVR and LFC. The proposed controller gains are optimized by using bird swarm algorithm (BSA) in a unified power system. The proposed FOPI-TID controller outdoes over PID and TID. Moreover, a case study on performance of BSA is conducted found to be superior over firefly, flower pollination and cuckoo search algorithms. Further, the influence of AVR loop is carried and shows better dynamics over LFC loop. Furthermore, impact of wind systems is studied and shows enhanced dynamics over thermal system alone.
