Microcontroller Based Cost Effective Smart Electricity Billing System In A Smart Grid Environment

The primary objective of the task is to assess energy consumption using clever automatic measurement tools that make use of inexpensive components. The shortcomings of the earlier billing techniques include the need for a bigger labour force and the length of time required to collect payments. The introduction of technological breakthroughs in smart grid services was followed by other developments in the fields of energy usage measurement and billing systems. The recommended solution is to calculate the amount of power used inside the meter and report the results to the client and the electrical authority. The major components of this system are an LCD display, a GSM module, and a microcontroller. The designed methodology continuously measures and calculates energy use in real-time, followed by the entire monthly electricity cost. In the suggested system, a microcontroller is utilized to calculate power usage and then disseminate the results onto a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) after communicating the results via the GSM cellular network. The consumer gets the billing statement, which is also displayed on the LCD display. If a bill fails to be settled in a timely manner by the end user, the microcontroller automatically cuts off electricity to the appropriate residential electrical component. The consumer immediately regains access to their power supply after paying the payment. An online payment tool can be used by a customer to pay their bills. By automating the billing process and establishing transparency, this more effective and independent system will make it easier to avoid paying bills manually. It will also enhance awareness among customers of electricity usage using an Android operating system interface.
