Visual Analytics of Motor Vehicle Accidents

In this paper, we present a visual analytics solution to analyze and visualize motor vehicle accidents in metropolitan cities. Through advanced visualization techniques and overlaying accident severity data onto citywide maps, the research provides valuable insights for city officials. These insights support targeted interventions, contributing to an overall enhancement of urban safety. In contrast to conventional visualizations, this research offers a unique perspective crucial for informed policymaking and the development of effective intervention strategies. Evaluation results on real-world data in the Canadian metropolitan city of Toronto show the practicality of our solution in revealing accident patterns in the city. The discovered information and knowledge helps decision makers to improve city services.
