Computer-Aided Industrial Design: A Case Study of 3D Modeling and Rendering

Computer-aided design and rendering provide designers with a realistic visual experience, allowing them to create models from scratch and render images that closely resemble the actual product. However, different design requirements and the evolving techniques of 3D modeling and rendering pose challenges for various product designs. For instance, children’s products often feature numerous curved elements, presenting challenges for designers during 3D modeling. Additionally, plastic materials require special attention to lighting and environmental factors to ensure the product’s visual representation is sufficiently three-dimensional.This study focuses on investigating the impact of 3D modeling and rendering techniques on product design, with a particular emphasis on creating a children’s rocking horse set. In the field of children’s product design, due to the characteristics of these products, more curved designs are employed, making the application of 3D modeling and rendering techniques crucial. Modeling allows designers to achieve more precise simulations of children’s needs and facilitates the creation of products that closely resemble real-world usage and are easy to modify. Rendering, on the other hand, presents these models with a realistic visual effect, endowing 3D models with a lifelike presence, displaying the product’s materials, colors, and usage environment. Furthermore, to ensure the product’s effectiveness, careful consideration must be given to the product’s texture, shape, materials used, rounded edges, and color schemes.Through the precision of 3D modeling and rendering techniques, designers can directly create simulations with realistic proportions and visual effects on the computer. This not only reduces the time and cost required for manual model-making but also significantly improves design output efficiency.In summary, this study, using the example of a children’s rocking horse set, particularly emphasizes the innovative potential of 3D modeling and rendering techniques in the field of industrial design. By applying these technologies and practicing their use, future designers are provided with a reference for drawing, enhancing the overall design process.
