Rotary Kiln Wall Thickness Detection Method Based on Infrared Temperature Measurement

Rotary kiln, as an industrial equipment, is widely used in building materials, metallurgy, and chemical industries [1]. In the process of chemical ironmaking, the rotary kiln serves as a core device, and the formation of rings inside the kiln can seriously affect the ventilation and heat transfer effects within the kiln. The ring material will blocks the flow of materials inside the kiln, resulting in poor gas flow and subsequently affecting the uniform distribution of heat. This leads to uneven ironmaking reactions and reduces ironmaking efficiency, and may also cause some raw materials to fail to react fully, affecting the purity and quality of iron. With the continuous accumulation of ring material, the kiln wall may be subjected to uneven thermal stress, leading to deformation or cracks in the kiln body. This not only affects the service life of the kiln body, but also may lead to safety accidents such as kiln body rupture, causing significant economic losses to the enterprise. The cleanup of ring material is also a complex and time-consuming task. Since the ring material often exhibits high adhesion and hardness, special tools and chemical reagents may be required during the cleanup process, which not only increases production costs but also poses a potential threat to the safety of operators. Therefore, during the production process of the rotary kiln, by comprehensively scanning the surface temperature of the kiln body, the collected temperature data is mapped into a one-dimensional temperature curve model and unfolds a two-dimensional thermal image model of the surface of the rotary kiln [2]. Real-time analysis of all temperature data is conducted, and positions of anomalies such as highest and lowest temperatures are calibrated and displayed for monitoring personnel to observe, enabling them to promptly understand changes in the kiln wall and determine whether there are abnormalities in the rotary kiln. Then the above functions have been uploaded to the built rotary kiln temperature analysis system to complete the real-time analysis and monitoring of the rotary kiln.
