Comparative Study of Motion Artifact Removal Algorithms

Electroencephalography (EEG), as an important EEG signal acquisition technique, is widely used in brain-computer interface (BCI) and other fields of research. EEG acquired in the motion state introduces a large number of motion artifacts, which leads to the degradation of EEG quality, and thus the removal of motion artifacts from EEG has become an important task in EEG research. This paper introduces the characteristics of motion artifacts interfering with normal EEG signal acquisition and the principles of motion artifact removal methods for EEG signals, focuses on seven EEG motion artifact removal methods, analyses the current status of application, and compares and summarizes the advantages and limitations of various methods. The paper also gives a response strategy to the current demand and problems faced by EEG motion artifact removal, and analyses and prospects for future research directions.
