Determination of the Location of the Radiation Source

The paper explores the use of the trilateration method (a distance-difference measurement technique) to determine the location of a radiation source. The analysis focuses on a scenario where signals emitted by a single source are received by three spatially separated receivers, positioned at the vertices of a triangle. The relative time delays of the received signals are used to calculate the coordinates of the source. The accuracy of this localization method depends on factors such as the precision in measuring the signal arrival times at the receivers and the accuracy in determining the coordinates of the receivers. To estimate the inaccuracy of the transmitter's position we rely on numerical examples. The paper presents the results of numerical estimations that assess the feasibility of using the trilateration approach to meet practical requirements.
