Data Consent Management: A Blockchain Solution for User Empowerment and Trust

In this article, we present a blockchain solution to address the challenges of responsible consent management of personal identifiable information (PII). Our approach is based on the application of blockchain technology, taking advantage of its ability to guarantee integrity, privacy, and transparency. We design and implement a working prototype that demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the solution in various consent scenarios. Our solution aims to ensure compliance with data protection regulations, such as the Ecuadorian Organic Law of Personal Data Protection (LOPDP), and maintain traceability of operations, offering a high level of trust and security in the management of personal information.
