A Wideband Long-Slot Antenna With Switched Beams for Millimeter-Wave Application

This letter presents a wideband and high-gain antenna for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) applications, employing a three-port feeding structure for beam switching. The antenna utilizes a wideband long-slot structure and folded parabolic reflecting networks, achieving broadband and high-gain radiation characteristics. Through the utilization of three individual ports, the antenna is capable of performing beam switching in three different directions. For validation, an antenna prototype operating at the V-band is designed, fabricated and measured. Experimental results demonstrate that the designed antenna exhibits a wide impedance matching bandwidth from 60 GHz to 75 GHz, reaching a maximum radiation gain of 12 dBi and successfully realizing beam switching at 0° and ±30° regarding broadside direction. Hence, the proposed antenna with the characteristics of wideband, switched-beam, low-profile and low complexity offers a feasible solution for various applications.
