The Importance of Technological Innovation in SMEs: Methodological Proposal for its Implementation

In complex contexts, companies need tools to adapt to new times, with constant changes and financing needs for the implementation of new technologies, which offer solutions to innovation challenges such as product development, expansion of markets, flexibility and adaptability, rapid response to change and better organisational integration. The diverse approaches to explaining innovation underscore its systemic, interactive and multifactorial nature due to the diversity of actors and knowledge involved. This article analyzes the importance of technological innovation in small and medium enterprises, and proposes a methodology for these organizations to leverage their performance in the use of Industry 4.0 technologies effectively, helping to identify key barriers faced by SMEs in adopting technological innovations, such as financial constraints and excessive focus on short-term operations; with the evaluation of the level of technological development in SMEs in the district of La Matanza and with the development of a model adapted to facilitate the implementation of technological innovations in SMEs, based on principles of organizational competitiveness and corporate architecture.
