Recent Advances in Electromagnetic Optimization Methods for Metamaterial Absorbers

Metamaterial absorbers have superior performance in absorbing, suppressing, and manipulating the electromagnetic (EM) waves. Due to the challenges of finding the optimal design parameters, the EM optimization for metamaterial absorbers is time-consuming. It is important to develop an efficient method to improve the speed and efficiency of EM optimization for metamaterial absorbers. This paper provides recent advances in EM optimization methods for metamaterial absorbers, including the artificial neural network (ANN) surrogate-based optimization method and the ANN-space mapping (SM) surrogate-based optimization method.
