Fault-Tolerant Control Based on Set-Membership Estimation for Linear Discrete-Time Systems With Parameter Uncertainties and Application to Aero-Engine Control System

This article proposes a robust sliding-mode fault-tolerant control (FTC) method based on set-membership estimation for the linear discrete-time systems with parameter uncertainties and applies it to aero-engine control system. First, an extended state observer (ESO) is designed to estimate both the system state and the actuator fault. To improve estimation accuracy, the observer design integrates

technology, effectively attenuating the influence of disturbances, measurement noise, and parameter uncertainties. Next, a robust sliding-mode fault-tolerant controller is designed based on the estimation of state and fault such that the effects of fault are attenuated. Furthermore, the set-membership estimation method is exploited to calculate dynamic parameters of the controller in real-time. This online calculation further improves the control performance and attenuates the control chattering. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed via aero-engine test platform experiments conducted on a dual-rotor aero-engine.
