Noise-induced simultaneous firing in two leaky integrate-and- fire circuits with dead zones

The enhancement of noise-induced synchronization in uncoupled leaky integrate-and-fire circuits by implementing dead zones was investigated. The dead zone is a time period in which the subsequent firing is inhibited and reduces individual firings of the circuits. Through numerical simulations and experiments involving white noise, it was demonstrated that the optimal dead zone width significantly enhances the rate of simultaneous firing. The results also suggest the importance of minimizing the mismatch in dead zone widths between circuits.
