Triple Band Microstrip Planar Antenna with DGS for WiMAX (3.5 GHz / 6.5 GHz) and C Band Applications

The proposal and investigation of a triple band microstrip planar antenna for triple-frequency multiband operation have been carried out. The antenna employs a defective ground structure, incorporating three rectangular patches, each of a specified size 28.5 mm x 3.2 mm. The designed antenna features a compact overall size of 29.01 × 34.95 × 1.6 mm and operates within the frequency ranges of 3.5 GHz / 6.5 GHz, making it suitable for WiMAX and C band applications. Electromagnetic energy is coupled to the radiator through a compact microstrip feedline using a lumped port. In this FR4 epoxy substrate with a thickness of 1.6mm and a dielectric constant of 4.4, the antenna is designed. The proposed antennas exhibit return losses of -28.6414 / -24.3972 / -20.4478 dB, on three resonated frequencies 3.5 / 4.7 / 6.5 GHz, respectively. Using HFSS, we design and analyze the antenna.
