An Enhanced Node Authentication Algorithm for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

MANET is an intriguing technology that can be used by first responders at disaster sites or soldiers in the field to provide communications in the absence of fixed infrastructure. Because of its Ad Hoc capabilities, MANET has grown quickly in recent years, making it a popular target for cybercriminals. This begs the question of how to reap the benefits of MANETs without raising the stakes in terms of security. MANETs are vulnerable to a number of issues, including insecure communication, cooperative nature, lack of a central point, mobility, wireless links, limited power sources, and unclear defense lines. Nodes have unrestricted mobility and self-organization freedom. Verifying the identity of nodes through authentication is necessary to guarantee the security of communication and data transmission. This research study proposed a Node Authentication (NA) algorithm using the Record and Trust-based Detection Technique (RTBD) and Reputation-Based Scheme (RBS) to secure communication and prevent unauthorized or malicious nodes from joining the network by allowing nodes to identify themselves by verifying their identities before joining and leaving the network. Simulation results will be presented in the future to show the superior performance of the proposed solution.
