Intelligent Fall Protection Device for Geriatric People

One of the most frequent reasons that older people need medical attention is falling down. Especially if they live alone, elderly people frequently hurt themselves from falls. To lower the risk of a victim, medical attention must be given before fall occurs. Numerous technologies have been created that use webcams to keep an eye on senior citizens' activities. However, installation and operation are costly, and this is limited to indoor use. The user of the currently available commercial device must wear a wireless emergency transmitter, which resembles a wristwatch. Due to the device's frequent swinging and moving, this method will limit user movement and increase the likelihood of false alarms. This work suggested a fall detection system that can identify falls and notify loved ones to seek assistance. It is also reasonably priced and dependable. The faller's acceleration and body tilt angle were measured using a combination of an accelerometer and gyroscope in order to detect falls. The decrease in true negatives and false positives increased the system's accuracy. A Short Message Service (SMS) alert system was used to sent the message to relevant authorities. Additionally, this wearable gadget responds quickly and requires less money for implementation. Consequently, the sensitivity and specificity of this fall detection and alert system are 95% and 90%, respectively.
