Advances in Linearizers for TWTAs in Space

For power amplifiers (PAs) used in space the prime need is lower dc power. Today linearized TWTAs (LTWTAs) provide the best way to minimize dc power; and new highly efficient miniature TWTAs (also known Microwave power modules, MPMs) can provide the most compact PAs essential for new space applications. Recent Versatile Linearizers (VLs) enable TWTAs to provide optimum efficiency over a wide range of power levels (> 6 dB dynamic range), frequency (> 100 GHz) and bandwidth (> 3 GHz). These PAs are ideal for phased array and shaped, multibeam applications.
