Distributionally Robust Bidding Strategies for Aggregated Demand-Side Flexibility

This work presents a risk-based approach to the operational planning of aggregated demand-side flexibility. The study aims to coordinate the peer-to-peer electricity market within the European day-ahead and intraday markets. A two-stage framework based on a linear programming approach is proposed, to deal with uncertainties in renewable energy production and spot prices, while incorporating the risk of grid constraint violation through distributionally robust optimization. The framework focuses on sequential decision making with the objective of maximizing the social welfare of the community, while minimizing the risk of potential grid constraint violations. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated using a case study with aggregated assets, including consumers, photovoltaic generation, small-scale storage and active consumers.
