Integrated Multi-Mode Modem in a 130 nm CMOS Process Using Open Source Design Flow

The growing expansion of the open source technology in the development of integrated circuits democratizes the access to full silicon design flow. In this context, this article discusses the development of a digital-type integrated circuit using a fully integrated design flow with open-source tools in a 130-nanometer CMOS process. The digital circuit used was a Multi-mode modem based on software defined radio, capable of supporting amplitude (ASK), frequency (FSK), and phase (PSK) modulation and demodulation schemes. Digital design flow concepts and open source EDA tools were used, complemented by functional checks to ensure accurate and efficient performance of the integrated circuit. The GDS layout was generated with the rules that meet the requirements of the manufacturing process, validating the design of the integrated circuit and the performance of the open source process.
