Bridging Traditional and Technology Through Evaluating the Effectiveness of Augmented Reality

This study aimed to develop a mobile-based augmented reality (AR) app to introduce the existence of Mek Mulung tradition that is less familiar among the younger generation due to technological advancements. The research objectives were to identify Mek Mulung theatre tradition presentation through AR; to develop an AR application as an awareness on the existence of the tradition and to evaluate the effectiveness of using AR in enhancing teenagers’ experience. The ADDIE approach is used to guide the step-by-step process which involves the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Quantitative analysis revealed that respondents agree with the AR app's content and design which indicates its effectiveness in introducing Mek Mulung to teenagers.
