Simultaneous Multiple Round Auctions for Resource Allocation in Fog Computing Environments

Fog computing's decentralized nature is ideal for latency-sensitive IoT applications, but efficient resource allocation remains a critical challenge. Traditional auction mechanisms often fall short in addressing the real-time, dynamic nature of fog computing resource demands. This research introduces the Simultaneous Multiple Round Auction (SMRA) model, specifically designed for fog environments. SMRA deviates from conventional models by enabling bidding on customized resource bundles, employing multiple bidding rounds for price discovery and fairness, and incorporating fog-centric design for low-latency and scalability. The objectives of this research include enhancing resource utilization, prioritizing user satisfaction based on QoS requirements, ensuring fair allocation, and maintaining responsiveness in dynamic fog networks. Experimental evaluations will assess SMRA's performance across metrics including resource utilization, user satisfaction, auction convergence time, fairness, and scalability.
