Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR)-Based Load Frequency Control in Power Systems

This study evaluates linear quadratic regulator (LQR) use in two-area load frequency control (LFC) systems. The purpose of this study is to analyze linear quadratic regulator (LQR) in rotor angle and pitch operations. Two connections connect the LFC to loads, generators, and controllers in distinct grid segments. LQR controllers dynamically vary generator output to control system frequency. This study compares LQR and PI controllers on environmental control, time, and safety. A comparison of LQR and PI management systems shows their pros and cons in both LFC locations.
