3D Mapping of Indoor Empty Room Using 1D LiDAR

Three-dimensional mapping can be defined as the process of profiling of objects in three dimensions to map the object in real-world. The aim of the process is to create a 3D map of an object or a space which can be used in analysis, surveying, and other engineering domain. Among the available different approach of mapping the 3D mapping using LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) seems to be a promising method. The mapping using 3D Lidar is very expensive since the cost of 3D Lidar is high. The project proposed aims to develop a mapping technology by using one-dimensional LiDAR sensor to construct comprehensive 3D maps of indoor environment. Our approach leverages a single-dimensional LiDAR sensor, which offers a cost-effective and streamlined solution for creating detailed 3D maps of rooms and enclosed spaces. By employing advanced signal processing techniques, point cloud registration we aim to produce highly accurate and real-time 3D maps of rooms. These maps also capture the 3D structure of the architectural features within the space.
