Differentially-Fed Coincident Phase-Centered Wideband Dipole Array on a Triangular Grid

A differentially-fed coincident phase-centered wideband dipole array on a triangular grid is presented. One dipole polarization is printed on a horizontal PCB and fed by a 100Ω-differential grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) pair, while the orthogonal dipole (droop bowtie) polarization is fed by a 100Ω -differential stripline pair. Infinite array simulations suggest operation over 7-21GHz (3:1 BWR) with good return loss, orthogonal port coupling and low differential-to-common mode conversion out to 45° in the E-, H- and D-planes. Realized gain and cross-polarization isolation levels agree with the ideal cross-dipole predictions.
