Multi-view Beamforming Radar for Random Body Motion Cancellation

The detection of heartbeats using Doppler radars has been studied for decades to remove dependency on contact-based sensors. One of the consistent issues in developing a robust real-life sensing device is the noise generated due to random body motions (RBM). This study introduces a novel technique that combines signals from multiple radars with different view angles to remove the effects of random body motion and enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of heartbeat signals. The proposed method utilizes four radars, with two receiving signals from the subject's chest and the other two from the subject's abdomen. The demodulated signal from each radar was added with weights to cancel the noise from random body motion. Simulation results are presented to verify the theory.
