An Interlaced Wideband Antenna Array with Reconfigurable Polarization for Over-the-Air Testing of On-the-Move Ku/Ka-Band Satellite Terminals

This paper presents a wideband interlaced antenna array with reconfigurable polarization for a new Comms on-the-move Electronically Steerable Array Testing facility (CESAT). A low-cost, wideband Vivaldi antenna with a simple dielectric lens is presented with operation coverage of Ku and Ka band satellite communication frequencies (10 - 31 GHz). This design is then placed in a circular sub-array to enable reconfigurable linear and circular polarization. This is then integrated into an interlaced antenna array that allows for simultaneous over-the-air transmission and pointing angle measurement in real time.
