Addressing mental health problems facing marginalized youths through technological interventions: a narrative review

This study explores the impact of technology on enhancing the mental health of marginalized adolescent groups. With a growing concern over mental health issues among youth, such as depression and anxiety, this research provides timely insight into how digital interventions can offer support. Employing a narrative review methodology, the study synthesizes findings from 66 included studies to examine the breadth and effectiveness of technological applications in mental health interventions. The analysis reveals that technology-based solutions, including mobile applications, online platforms, and digital games, are increasingly being used to address mental health challenges faced by adolescents from various marginalized backgrounds. These technologies cater to different needs and preferences, indicating a diverse approach to mental health support. The findings underscore the potential of technology to bridge gaps in traditional mental health services by offering accessible, engaging, and personalized options for young people. The study concludes that while technology holds promise for enhancing mental health outcomes, further research is needed to optimize its integration into comprehensive care strategies for marginalized youth.
