Self-Charging Electrical Bike

This research study presents the design and execution of a dual battery system, regenerative energy generation, and self-charging electronic bicycle (e-bike). A 12-volt generating motor is located at the front wheel of the e-bike for energy recovery, and a drive motor located at the back wheel powers the vehicle. The integrated energy system consists of two 12-volt battery packs that are controlled by an Arduino Nano microcontroller through a series of switching relays. While the battery with the lower voltage is picked for charging, the battery with the greater voltage is used to power the e-bike. To guarantee the ideal charging voltage, the generator motor’s output is passed via a DC-to-DC step-up converter. An Arduino is interfaced with a potentiometer that serves as a throttle to control speed. By continually controlling and regenerating energy, this configuration seeks to increase the ebike’s operating range. The effectiveness of energy recovery and the smooth transition between charging and powering states are two of the main issues addressed. The design that has been suggested highlights the possibility of using regenerative technology into personal transportation to improve sustainability and energy efficiency.
