The High Performance Ultra Wideband Balun Chip

This paper investigates an improved Marchand balun structure for the design of a balun based on an enhanced Marchand planar architecture. A balun chip operating in the frequency range of 3–23 GHz is designed using the IPD process. The research results demonstrate that the balun achieves a relative bandwidth of 150%, amplitude imbalance less than 1 dB, phase imbalance less than 3 degrees, and insertion loss better than 6 dB. The performance of the balun is excellent, showcasing its potential in RF device applications.
