Concurrent Dual-Band Receiver Based on Four-Port Interferometric Architecture

A concurrent dual-band receiver based on four-port interferometric architecture is introduced and implemented in this work. Compared to the traditional six-port junction, the proposed structure only has two output ports, which means that the number of expensive and power consuming high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) has been reduced by half compared to traditional six-port used in [12] in the case of demodulating concurrent dual-band signals. The baseband signal of two RF signals is regenerated through simple linear operations using data from two output ports. A prototype was implemented and modulated digital signal 64-QAM and 16-QAM with a bandwidth of 20MHz work at 3.4GHz and 3.6GHz have been successfully demonstrated. The measured maximum EVM is 2.9% with a MP based calibration.
