Design and Implementation of Mimic Defense Gateway

With the continuous improvement of digitalization and intelligence in the power system, the cyberspace security problems are increasingly prominent. The gateway plays a crucial role in the smart grid, and thus the security of gateway is very important. However, traditional gateway security still relies mainly on static and passive defense mechanisms that cannot deal with unknown vulnerability and backdoor threats. Cyberspace Mimic Defense (CMD) has shown great ability in cyberspace security defense with the active defense technology. In this paper, we designed and implemented the mimic gateway based on CMD theory and the Dynamic Heterogeneous Redundancy (DHR) architecture. We also conducted a series of experiments to evaluate the effectiveness and security of our approach: 1) Through the injection testing, black box testing and other testing, the mimic gateway system has been proven to be functionally complete and highly applicable. 2) The security validation results present the defense effectiveness of the mimic gateway.
