Research on the Application of an Improved AES-based Encryption Algorithm on a Multi-Protocol Conversion Gateway with Domestic Chip*

To ensure data security during the gateway’s data uploading process, we introduce the advantages of chaotic mapping to AES. We then develop a multi-protocol encrypted gateway architecture based on an improved AES data encryption algorithm using domestic chips. To enhance the benefits of chaotic mapping, we introduce normalization based on the traditional Logistic mapping to create a new L-Logistic mapping. This expands the range of chaotic mapping. Our experiments demonstrate that the random number series generated by the L-Logistic mapping can pass the frequency and travel tests specified by NIST. The study proposes a composite chaotic AES encryption method that combines the L-Logistic mapping and Chebyshev mapping with AES encryption. This method encrypts data in groups using a single secret. The study found that the composite chaotic AES encryption has a more stable avalanche effect (65±5) compared to the result of 60±10 for AES encryption alone.
