Design of a Marine Litter Collection Apparatus Utilizing Wave and Wind Energy

Marine litter, characterized by its abundant presence, widespread distribution, and consequential environmental hazards, poses significant challenges for effective management. Conventional collection methodologies are afflicted by inefficiencies, exorbitant costs, and inadequate responsiveness. In response to these challenges, this paper introduces a novel apparatus designed for marine litter collection. Harnessing the kinetic potential of wave and wind energy, this apparatus features a dynamically adjustable V-shaped interception net, complemented by a robust litter retrieval system and supplementary auxiliary components. Through the utilization of wave and wind-driven interception structures, litter is effectively captured and directed towards designated storage units for periodic removal. The conceptualization and realization of this apparatus serve to mitigate the prevailing shortcomings associated with marine litter collection, notably addressing issues of temporal efficacy and resource consumption. Consequently, it presents a promising avenue towards the attainment of sustainable, efficient, and automated management strategies for marine litter.
